I have a rain sensor, it is raining and the sprinklers are running. Why?

Did it rain enough?  It may be that it has not rained enough to trigger the sensor.  Another reason could be that the rain sensor is on bypass mode.  Bypass mode is a setting which puts the rain sensor on off.  If the rain sensor is wireless, the battery in the sensor could be low and may need to be replaced.
